The 'conjunction' (connection) motif deals with the roots of the idea of human dignity.
Some pioneers of this idea saw a connection between a Creator God and the creatively empowered human being. From this, they derived an ethic in which man meets his counterpart in the awareness of his divine dignity.
In this ethic, creative ability can serve as a viable justification for human dignity. The motif alludes to an area of human creativity that expresses his creative ability in a special way: space travel. The aesthetics are inspired by the space-fascinated style of the 1960s, which was reflected in many areas of design at the time. The motif features a depiction of the futuristic Italian concept car Alfa Romeo Carabo from 1968, the year before the moon landing. In astronomy, conjunction stands for the "connection" of celestial bodies that are on a line at a certain point in time.
